Young Student Academy

We invite all secondary school students, secondary school graduates, and first-year university students interested in the humanities to attend our Young Student Academy.

The Young Student Academy seeks to enhance the interest of academically inclined youth in the humanities. During one- or two-day meetings, participants have the opportunity to meet researchers from the humanities and related disciplines, learn about their areas of research, and how to prepare a research paper, but also share their own interests and activities. One of the objectives is to establish communication between like-minded young people and researchers.

The Young Student Academy has been active at the Estonian Literary Museum since 2022. Meetings are held during school holidays, including a two-day summer school. The topics discussed are chosen to complement the school curriculum, but they also need to be topical in the society and academia and relevant and appealing to students. Interested participants are welcome to join the mailing list. Participants are reimbursed for travel expenses and provided with a light meal. Behind this initiative are Mare Kõiva, lead researcher at the ELM, and Krista Ojasaar, literary scholar and the museum’s personnel manager.
